France to consider end of life legislation

  1. The proposals appear to involve withdrawal or refusal of treatment, which does not necessarily amount to assisted suicide or euthanasia. However, there is apparently reference to withdrawal or refusal of food and fluids, which can be considered euthanasia or assisted suicide in some circumstances. It will be necessary to have the actual text of a proposed law in order to assess its potential impact on freedom of conscience among health care workers.
