Ordinary General Assembly of CONFEMEL and the 1st Ibero-American Medical
Congress. A
Declaració sobre el aborto
(Declaration about abortion) was one of the documents
produced. It includes the following reference to freedom of
conscience.
9. La objeción de conciencia es un derecho humano por el cual el médico puede negarse a acciones que choquen con sus convicciones morales, filosóficas o religiosas y debe ser plenamente respetado en su decisión. (Conscientious objection is a human right by which the doctor can refuse those actions that clash with his moral, philosophical or religious convictions and he must be fully respected in his decision.)
